Artist in Residence
HITS Del Mar
Equine Art Created at the Hunter/Jumper Shows
As Artist in Residence at HITS Del Mar for the 2026 show season, I paint original equine artwork on the show grounds while horses and riders compete in the rings nearby.
.
Visitors at the showpark are invited to watch the painting process, view works in progress, and talk with me about the horses and moments that inspire the artwork. The residency adds a visual-art experience to the show while giving riders, owners, trainers, and spectators a closer look at how an equine painting is developed.
Artist Residency
The hunter/jumper world has shaped both my life and my work. Painting at HITS Del Mar allows me to observe the horses firsthand, from quiet moments outside the ring to the athleticism and energy of competition.

I am typically set up near the Ocean Club / VIP tent, although I often walk to the different rings to watch, photograph, and gather inspiration. These observations inform both the paintings I create during the residency and my broader body of work.

For exhibitors and guests, the residency offers another way to experience the show: through the perspective of an artist who understands horses, riding, and the details that make each horse recognizable.

VISIT DURING THE RESIDENCY
I paint on-site during select HITS Del Mar hunter/jumper shows throughout the 2026 season.

Wednesday - Sunday
11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (approximately)

I am generally located near the Ocean Club / VIP tent, but may occasionally be watching at one of the rings or gathering reference material elsewhere on the grounds.

Because my painting schedule may shift with the show schedule, weather, and the work in progress, follow me on Instagram for current residency dates and location updates.

Unbound
Diptych: two 36 × 36 in. canvases
Overall dimensions: 36 × 72 in.
Unbound is a two-canvas oil painting of a dapple grey horse jumping. Without tack or a rider, the focus stays entirely on the horse: its movement, power, and form.

Unbound is currently on display inside the Ocean Club at HITS Del Mar and is available for purchase at $3,900.
Custom Horse Paintings
The residency gives horse owners an opportunity to meet me, see my process firsthand, and discuss the possibility of creating a custom painting of their own horse.

My experience as a rider allows me to recognize the details horse people notice, including expression, conformation, movement, and the individual qualities that make a horse unmistakably their own. Each commission is created as an original work of art, not simply a painted copy of a photograph.

Custom paintings may commemorate a current partner, celebrate an important achievement, or honor a horse whose influence extends far beyond the show ring.
Explore the Artwork
Many of the paintings I create during my residency become part of private collections, while others remain available through my gallery. If a painting catches your eye, or you've been thinking about commissioning artwork of your own horse or pet, I'd be happy to answer questions during your visit or you may continue exploring my work online.
Meet the Artist
I've spent a lifetime around horses as a rider, trainer, and artist. That experience continues to shape every painting I create, from expressive contemporary works to commissioned portraits for private collectors.

Beyond the studio, I've also spent years introducing people to painting through my company, Corporate to Canvas, leading creative experiences for businesses, nonprofits, and private groups throughout Southern California. Whether painting alongside hotel guests or teaching first-time artists, I enjoy making the creative process engaging, approachable, and memorable.

When I'm not at The Inn, I'm usually in my San Diego studio or painting at equestrian events throughout Southern California.
